As the tattoo craze continues non-stop, industry leader Tattoo Johnny offers consumers free advice on how to get a safe tattoo they'll enjoy for the rest of their life.
Yardville, NJ (PRWEB) August 3, 2005 -- Around one-third of all Americans between the ages of 25 and 39 now have at least one tattoo, and the trend continues to grow. Despite a doubling of the number of tattoo studies in the country in the last five years to accommodate demand, tattooing remains largely unregulated. According to Tattoo Johnny (www.tattoojohnny.com), the largest seller of tattoo designs in the world, consumers need to keep their eyes open before taking the tattoo plunge. By taking a few specific steps, they can maximize their chance of getting a safe tattoo they'll enjoy for the rest of their life.
"With increased visibility on TV, in movies and in sports, tattooing has gone mainstream," says Mark Nelson, founder of Tattoo Johnny. "Unfortunately, some unscrupulous people are rushing to cash in on the trend. In the past, tattooists served a rigorous apprenticeship under the close supervision of an experienced professional. Tattoo machines were hand crafted and sold by their makers to qualified tattooists. That self-regulation is now a thing of the past, with do-it-yourself kits and video instruction available on the Internet. So our company felt it was vital to put together guidelines for consumers on how to protect themselves."
Health risks of careless tattooing, including transmission of hepatitis B or C, HIV, herpes and streptococcus or staphylococcus infections, can be avoided by making sure that the tattooist shows you the installation of a new needle and tube setup from a sealed envelope immediately prior to getting started on your tattoo. "If the tattooist brushes aside your health concerns or avoids answering questions, leave," advises Nelson.
In addition to watching for proper sterilization techniques, consumers need to seek out tattoo artists with training and experience. Untrained tattooists can create shaky, irregular lines or color that falls out, cause excessive bleeding or produce unsightly scars. Bad tattoos commonly have to be fixed or covered by an experienced professional, so it makes sense to get it right the first time.
Founded in 2002, Tattoo Johnny, Inc., represents many of the most famous tattoo artists and illustrators in the industry and attends more than 20 conventions a year to help educate the public on the do's and don'ts of safe, quality tattoos. "People are often more careful about who cuts their hair than who does their tattoo. Yet a haircut grows out, while a tattoo lasts forever," Nelson notes.

Female orgasm may be partner picking tool
Women who have difficulty reaching orgasm can blame it on their genes, with researchers suggesting it could be a way to assess whether a man would make a good long-term partner.
Like heart disease, anxiety and depression, scientists discovered in a study of 1,397 pairs of female twins that there is a genetic basis to female orgasm.
"We found that between 34 per cent and 45 per cent of the variation in ability to orgasm can be explained by underlying genetic variation," Tim Spector said, of the Twin Research Unit at St Thomas' Hospital in London.
"There is a biological underlying influence that can't be attributed purely to upbringing, religion or race," he said.
Other studies have attributed differences in the ability to achieve orgasm to cultural, religious and psychological factors.
Between 12-15 per cent of women do not have orgasms compared to about 2 per cent of men.
Males are also quicker at 2.5 minutes, while the average time it takes for a woman to reach orgasm is 12 minutes, the study said.
"Why is there this biological difference between the sexes? The fact that some of this is heritable suggests that evolution has a role," he told a news conference.
It may also increase fertility, according to some theories.
Variations
In a study of identical and non-identical twins published in the journal Biology Letters, the research team found huge variations when they surveyed them about sexual problems.
One-in-three women, or 32 per cent, said they never or infrequently had an orgasm.
But 14 per cent said they always had an orgasm during intercourse.
"More women were able to orgasm during masturbation, with 34 per cent always reaching orgasm," the researchers said in the journal.
If scientists could discover which genes and how they function, it could potentially pave the way for future therapies to treat women who cannot reach orgasm.
But the research team said orgasm is a very complex process that is poorly understood.
Little research has been done because it is still a taboo subject.
Anatomical and biological features and psychological factors may all play a part.

A letter to a young teenager who has just been diagnosed with genital herpes, which she contracted without ever having had intercourse. by a friend
Dear _____,
Hi. I know you don't know me that well, but I am a friend, and I hear that you are having a problem I may be able to help you with right now.
You see, I have had genital herpes for 20 years.
The first thing I want to tell you - is it is not as bad as some people will tell you it is. I think some people really try to guilt trip you over catching this disease. Well, as you know, it's easy to catch. Over 80% of adults HAVE genital herpes. That's right, over half the adults in the U.S. have genital herpes, some 45 million people (I just checked - and that includes everyone over the age of 12). So see, you are not the only one.
Some people will try to tell you you are terribly contagious all the time. I have two things to say about that. Number one, I have been married to (my husband) for 14 years - and I have not given him herpes. Number two, there is nothing about genital herpes that hot soap and water does not kill. Yep, that's it - wash with hot water and soap and that's it.
You don't have leprosy or AIDs; you have a very common and minor illness, which you happen to share with over half the population. So don't let anyone guilt trip you about it, okay?
Another thing I would like to mention is that for most people the first outbreak is the worst. So however awful you feel right now, however painful it is, this is probably the worst it will ever be - it will never be this bad again, I promise.
Now, lets talk about how you are going to live with this.
The main thing is, you have to take care of yourself. It isn't that hard, really.
Herpes is a disease of the nervous system. Things that will make you break out are things that stimulate your nervous system or that depress your immune system.
So - stress, caffeine, chocolate, sugar, and alcohol are the biggest no-nos. I know - it sucks. If you drink a lot of pop - cut way back on it. Same thing for candy or sweet treats. Alcohol shouldn't be an issue for you at the moment, but it might be someday, so I just want you to know, okay? You don't have to quit all those things completely - but cut down to the minimum you can live with. I still think I have to have my little pot of coffee every morning - but after that I drink water or fruit juice only. You will learn, the hard way, what your system will tolerate. Easier to just cut back as much as you can, eh?
Stress is a tough one - because just knowing you have herpes can be stressful. Don't let it freak you out. Lots of people live with this every single day. The more you worry about it, the worse you will make it. I know, that's hard, but really, just don't think about it, go on with your life. If stress is a huge problem, maybe talk to your mom about learning ways to handle it like meditation, or a support group (some of them are worse than the disease though - some people just want to get together and whine!).
Start taking L-Lysine, 1000 mg a day. This is an amino acid that supports your immune system and it will help keep you from having outbreaks. When you do break out, you can double the dosage for the first day or two. Your outbreaks should be much shorter (usually mine only last three days, sometimes only one) and the sores will be less painful, too.
When you get sick with anything, expect to break out. Whenever your immune system is under stress, like with a cold or flu, it is too busy to fight the herpes, too and so you break out. This is why they used to be called "cold sores", because you broke out with sores when you got a cold.
Under taking care of yourself - herpes breaks out at the end of a nerve cell. That's why the sores hurt so bad. But you will break out at exactly the same place or places every single time. It can travel through your nervous system and find a new spot, too, so be suspicious of any sore that looks like a herpes blister. You can also spread it yourself, from one part of your body to another. ANYTIME you come in contact with an open herpes sore I want you to IMMEDIATELY wash with hot water and soap. This is very important. Those herpes germs on your skin can make new little sores anywhere you have a mucous membrane, your mouth, your nose, your eyes, or any other open sore you might have else where and touch, like a cat scratch or a scrape. So - touch the sores, WASH. Now don't freak out - just remember to always wash and you won't spread them around your body. After 20 years I only break out in two places - one where they started and one on my bottom! The crazy thing is - I met someone else who breaks out in exactly the same place on her bottom - you suppose its some special butt nerve ending? Anyway - it traveled there all by itself.
I don't know exactly where the sores are, but if you have to dry around them when you use the bathroom, pat, don't rub. Again, you just don't want to spread around anything draining from the sores.
Herpes germs can live for 8 hours on a fabric surface. Change your underwear every day (bet I don't have to tell you that). If you use a washcloth or towel and wash or dry around the sores, either put it right into the laundry, or have your own separate cloth and towel. You don't want to accidentally give it to your Mom or anyone else in your family. Nothing needs a special wash or anything - regular laundry soap will kill the germs. Just air and 8 hours will kill them, but better safe than sorry. Don't share your razor if you shave while you are broken out, either.
Don't worry about swimming - chlorine kills it, too.
NOT this time - but if or when you break out again (bet your doctor didn't tell you some people break out one time, and never break out again) this is how I suggest you treat the sores. I know, they itch, they hurt, do not touch until you see they are like fat little blisters. Then touch, once, break them open. Then scrub your hands thoroughly with soap & hot water. Let the sores drain. Now don't touch again. Since I've been doing that, they dry up and heal in a day or two.
If they are someplace other than your genitals, like your butt (that's where mine are!) break them open, take a deep breath and be brave and pat them with alcohol on a sterile pad to help them dry up and put a Band-Aid over them so the drainage doesn't soil anything - remember it's that wetness that carries the germs. Hurts like hell, but it dries them up a lot faster and they heal faster. If you can, get the Bach's Flower Remedy "Rescue Remedy" in a salve - it seems to help them heal really fast also. But you can't do this (alcohol & salve) if they are actually on your genitals because it isn't good for you there, okay?
If it turns out you are someone who breaks out more than once, it can vary from every month to only once a year or even less. Most people experience a prodrome - which is a warning that they are about to break out. For most people, they feel like they are coming down with something. You know that feeling, kinda icky but not actually SICK…yet. Well, you may feel that way a day or two before you break out with the herpes rash, too.
Of course, if you do get a cold or the flu, chances are you'll break out, so anytime you are not feeling well, just be cautious and alert to your body. This is good advice in general. If you have an outbreak, ask yourself - what did I eat, or drink, or do right before this happened? Was I under stress, or did I drink a lot of pop, or maybe it was that Twinkie binge. Pretty soon, you'll know what will make you break out, and then you can try to avoid it.
Okay - about not passing this on. I said it before; some people will try to tell you you are constantly contagious. This simply isn't true. Some people will try to tell you to join a Herpes support group and only have sex with other people who are infected. This is a total joke because there are 200 strains of herpes and you can catch all 200 - right now you only have 1, lets keep it that way, eh?
You are only contagious when you are broken out. As long as you have an open sore, you are contagious. If that sore comes into contact with someone else's genitals, mouth, any mucous membrane, or even their skin if they have an open sore like a scrape or paper cut, yes, you could give herpes to them. It just means you have to be cautious, and considerate of others. If you have any doubts, just don't risk it. If you've been feeling off, you think it could be your prodrome, don't risk it. Better safe than sorry.
This part sounds like something you shouldn't have to mention to people but here it is. One more time - soap and hot water KILLS herpes germs. Cultivate a clean habit, wash up with soap immediately after sexual contact of any kind, and suggest your partner do the same. You don't have to tell them why. Condoms will help but they only protect what they cover, so it depends on exactly where your sores are.
Speaking of telling. It is up to you. I do not tell people I have herpes, just because there are those people who will put you down for it, or act as if you have something hideous. The only people who know are people who are close to me; close friends, and family. As far as I personally am concerned, no one else needs to know. But you have to make your own decisions about that.
If you have any questions, or just want someone to talk to, you are welcome to call me.(edited)
Take care(hugs)
(name edited to keep this private and confidential)
Disclaimer: I am not a physician, nor have I had or do I pretend to have any medical training. What I have is 20 years experience with having genital herpes. This is my own opinion based on my own research and experience. If you have herpes, or think you might, see a real doctor.
But don't let them make you feel like filth (mine did!) or give you a ton of really scary (and very remote) possibilities to have nightmares over, like blindness and brain lesions or make you feel like you will drip germs 24-7 the rest of your life.
I've come to the conclusion that the people who tell you shit like that are just trying to punish you for their jealousy - because you obviously have a sex life, and they don't.

If you have any questions, or just want someone to talk to, you are welcome to call me.
(edited)

Take care
(hugs)

Women Who Lose The Urge
Ladies you know when you go to the hairdressers or you go and have your nails done, suddenly you can chat amongst the ladies or with the guy who is doing your hair. They become open to you as a counselor for some reason and they have a good ear for listening.
Well I'm not sure what it is, perhaps it is because I am such an open person that while I was waiting for the girl to come and do my nails her daughter came and sat with me to make a start and remove my nail polish.
We were talking about how I write for many people and discussed a website that I was building for women and their health issues and then about another site where I will be focusing on sexual health information. I like to share what I know with people and the best way to do that is to express myself in words.
After working with many adults for many years I feel I have learnt something so that I can help others when the time comes. Don't get me wrong I am not a medical practitioner, nor am I a qualified psychologist yet… but I don't suggest medications on any level but I have been told by many men and women that if there was something natural they could be taking to help them with some of the common sex problems that affect them they would.
Let me get back to this girl. She is in her early twenties. Yes she is a young and I feel too young a girl to be experiencing a loss of sexual urge or sexual energy. She gave the reason that she had gone off guys. When I looked at her she smiled, but it wasn't a true smile. It was very a fake smile.
I really felt for this girl because I had been going to the same salon for years and I know most of the women that work there. Suddenly she looked around the room and then back at me and the tears flowed.
She opened up. She couldn't help it. She told me that she has lost all sexual urges and she didn't know what was wrong with her. It wasn't that she couldn't attract men, because she could and very well at that. But when the time came to try and have a sexual relationship with them, one with which she could enjoy, she couldn't. There was nothing.
I was saddened for her and decided to go searching on the Internet for something that could help. The majority of my time is spent listening to everyone, men and women but when it came to helping and offering suggestions it was so easy to help men because there were so many options for them.
What I didn't realise was right under my fingertips, well sort of, was the solution. I've written about Vimax Pills for men before and to think that not far away from this product was another... Female Rx Plus - for Women, is a product that comes in a liquid form. It is an all natural sexual boost which women can take ten minutes before sexual activity. They say that it is a revolutionary way to increase sexual pleasure. I've made another appointment but this time to meet her for coffee. I want to show her what I found on the internet that may be of interest to her.
You see there is so much focus on men who have common sexual problems so it is now time for the women of the world to stand up and say, I want to be counted and I want to try something to help me enjoy sex as much as any man!
Female Rx Plus has been classed as a natural Viagra for women and because it is a herbal based product it has been suggested that women should have not have any side effects. If you are concerned or are unsure of the ingredients in Female Rx Plus, then check with your medical practitioner before you commence taking this product.
The herbal ingredients in Female Rx Plus are:

Clavo Huasca - which has been classified as an aphrodisiac and a stimulant.
Macuna - is a botanical supplement which may provide benefit to neurotransmitter support and has been linked to increases in growth hormone levels
Maca - this herb is growing in world popularity due to its energizing effects, fertility enhancement and aphrodisiac qualities which has recently been documented in a clinical study. It is also the perfect herb for anyone interested in a more vigorous sex life.
I believe that this product will help the young lady increase her sexual stamina. I believe she is too young to be left in the world, feeling alone because she doesn't know why or how to change the way she is feeling.
With a young child she believes that she lost interest when she gave birth to her child. He is happy and loves his mom very much… But she wants her sex life back. She wants to enjoy what she had before. She said that she had tried to talk about it, but no one wanted to listen to her.
They said she would get over it. No one would listen to how she was feeling until she finally felt comfortable enough to talk to someone who wasn't part of her family.
If you are like this young lady then perhaps it is time to look for an alternative. Go online to Female Rx Plus for Women and read more. If you have any problems at all there is a 24 hour 7 day a week help service.

    <created>2005-03-15T13:34:00-07:00</created>

Candidiasis is an infection caused by species of Candida fungi, especially Candida albicans. These fungi are found almost everywhere in the environment and may live harmlessly along with the "native" species of bacteria normally found in the mouth, gastrointestinal tract, and vagina.
An overgrowth of Candida can occur when the native bacteria is decreased by antibiotic use or by a compromised immune system as sometimes found in patients who have AIDS or diabetes. Malnutrition and use of certain medications (corticosteroids or anticancer drugs) can also cause Candida fungi to multiply until it is symptomatic.
Candidiasis can affect many different parts of the body, causing localized infections or overwhelming illness, depending on the patients underlying health:
Thrush - This infection of the mouth caused by the Candida albicans fungus, affects moist surfaces around the lips, inside the cheeks and on the tongue. It is more common to people with diseases that suppress the immune system, such as cancer and AIDS. Less commonly, Thrush can develop in people with normal immune systems, particularly people who have diabetes.
Esophagitis - This infection occurs when a Candida infection of the mouth spreads to the esophagus. Again, this occurrence is most common in people with AIDS and people receiving chemotherapy for cancer.
Cutaneous (skin) candidiasis - Candida can cause infections in areas of skin that receive little ventilation and are unusually moist. Common sites include the diaper area; the hands of those who routinely wear rubber gloves; the skin at the base of the fingernail; the groin or crease of the buttocks and the skin folds under large breasts in women.
Vaginal yeast infections - During a lifetime, 75 percent of all women are likely to have at least one vaginal Candida infection. Pregnant or diabetic women as well as women using antibiotics or those who frequently douche are more susceptible to vaginal yeast infections. Vaginal yeast infections are not usually transmitted sexually.
Deep candidiasis (for example, candida sepsis) - these fungi enter the bloodstream and spread throughout the body, causing severe infection. Newborns with very low birth weights and patients with severely depleted immune systems are more susceptible to this type of candidiasis. Common entry sites for fungi to enter the bloodstream are through skin catheters, tracheotomy sites, ventilation tubing or surgical wounds.
Symptoms of CandidiasisSymptoms vary depending on the site of infection:
Thrush causes curd-like white patches - sometimes painful, sometimes not - inside the mouth, especially on the tongue and around the lips. You may find a red, inflamed area that may bleed slightly if you try to scrape off the whitish surface of a thrush patch. Skin at the corners of the mouth may also be cracked, red and moist.
Esophagitis - Candida esophagitis may make swallowing difficult or painful and it may cause chest pain that centers behind the breastbone.
Cutaneous candidiasis causes patches of red, moist, weepy skin, sometimes with small pustules.
Vaginal yeast infections may cause vaginal itch and/or soreness; a thick cheese-like vaginal discharge; a burning discomfort around the vaginal opening and discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse.
Deep candidiasis is present when Candida spreads to the bloodstream. It may cause a wide range of symptoms, from unexplained fever to shock.
Diagnosis of Candidiasis:When attempting to diagnose Candidiasis, your doctor will ask you about your medical history, including diabetes, cancer, HIV, and other chronic illnesses. Your Doctor may also inquire about your diet and recent use of antibiotics or medications that can suppress the immune system.
Thrush, cutaneous candidiasis or vaginal yeast infection can often be diagnosed by a simple physical examination. However, if the diagnosis is in question, your doctor may scrape the surface to obtain cells for examination under a microscope or he or she may culture a skin sample. Blood tests or other types of diagnostic procedures may be necessary to rule out other medical illnesses that increase your risk of candidiasis, such as diabetes, cancer or HIV.
To diagnose Candida esophagitis, your doctor will perform an endoscopy, a procedure in which a flexible instrument is passed into your esophagus to allow direct viewing of the area. He or she will take a sample of tissue (either a biopsy or a "brushing") to be examined in the laboratory. To diagnose deep candidiasis, your doctor will draw a sample of blood for blood culture.
Treatment of CandidiasisThrush - Your doctor will treat thrush with topical antifungal medications such as nystatin and clotrimazole. For mild cases, a suspension of nystatin can be swished in the mouth and swallowed or a clotrimazole lozenge can be dissolved in the mouth. More severe cases may require treatment with antifungal drugs such as fluconazole (Diflucan) which should be taken once a day by mouth.
Esophagitis - Candida esophagitis is treated with ketoconazole, itraconazole (Sporanox) or fluconazole.
Cutaneous candidiasis - this skin infection can be effectively treated with a variety of antifungal powders and creams. It is important to keep the affected area clean and dry.
Vaginal yeast infections - Vaginal yeast infections can be treated with antifungal medications administered directly into the vagina as tablets, creams, ointments or suppositories. These medications include butoconazole (Femstat), clotrimazole (Gyne-Lotrimin), miconazole (Monistat 3) among others. A single dose of oral fluconazole can also be used but is not recommended for pregnant women.
Deep candidiasis - This infection is usually treated with intravenous amphotericin B (Abelcet) or fluconazole.
Candidiasis and Sexual Partners
Treatment of sexual partners is not usually necessary
Candidiasis and Pregnancy
The treatment for vaginal yeast infections, which uses oral fluconazole taken once a day by mouth, is not recommended during pregnancy.
Prevention of CandidiasisYou can prevent most Candida infections by keeping your skin clean and dry, by using antibiotics only as your doctor directs and by maintaining proper nutrition. If you have diabetes, you should try to keep your blood sugar under control.Your sexual partners do not usually require treatment.
PrognosisIn patients with chronic illnesses or weakened immune systems, episodes of candidiasis may be resistant to treatment and may eventually recur when treatment ends. In patients with deep candidiasis, quick diagnosis and proper treatment renders the best prognosis. Ideally, their infection should be stopped before it can spread to major organs.
In otherwise healthy patients with superficial candidiasis, a properly treated infection usually resolves without leaving permanent damage and is unlikely to return as long as the patient maintains a healthy lifestyle and remains well nourished.

Diagnosis of Candidiasis:

When attempting to diagnose Candidiasis, your doctor will ask you about your medical history, including diabetes, cancer, HIV, and other chronic illnesses.

Treatment of Candidiasis

Thrush - Your doctor will treat thrush with topical antifungal medications such as nystatin and clotrimazole.

Prevention of Candidiasis

You can prevent most Candida infections by keeping your skin clean and dry, by using antibiotics only as your doctor directs and by maintaining proper nutrition. If you have diabetes, you should try to keep your blood sugar under control.

Your sexual partners do not usually require treatment.

Prognosis

In patients with chronic illnesses or weakened immune systems, episodes of candidiasis may be resistant to treatment and may eventually recur when treatment ends.

It is natural human drive to seek for sexual satisfaction. In fact, Sigmund Freud tells us that sex is a part of basic human life instinct. We maintain our well-being if our sexual needs are adequately met. Unsatisfied sexual urges are detrimental to our health. This is evidenced by the fact that men, especially the old ones who have decreased sexual drive and capacities often become cranky and irritable.
In reality indeed, aging men's sexual performance decrease. The reason behind this is physiological. The testosterone of aging men declines and this accounts for less sexual drive. Fortunately, technology has an answer to this old men's dilemma and help them maintain an enriching lifestyle.
Of all the penis enhancement systems available, we say that our revolutionary program called SizeGenetics is the best for you. You may say that we do so because it is our product. You are right, but the other more important reason is we know that among all the single methods of penis enlargement, SizeGenetics is the most efficient. This is because it rolls all four tested methods of penis enhancement into one. It includes a traction device, penis exercises, a bottle of Volume Pills, and two bottles of ProSolution Pills.
Men whose performance in bed declines need the traction device. It effectively works to enhance your penis size, and therefore help you arouse your partners by stimulating their G-spots. The traction device makes your penis longer and thicker by exposing the penile tissues to pressure. When the tissues are stretched, cells divide. In effect, new and heftier muscles come up. Penis then becomes bulkier.
When you order SizeGenetics, you automatically become a member of the penis-health.com. This website offers exercises that help enhance the size of your cock and keep it in good shape. Typically, penis enhancers target to stretch Corpus Carvenosa, the spongy tissues in the penile area. Exercises found at this website not only works on this type of tissue but stretch Corpus Spongisum and Cavernosal Artery as well. By doing so, it not only improves the girth and length of your penis but also makes it hard and sturdy during erection. Huge, steel like penis certainly gives the highest sexual pleasure.
Moreover, SizeGenetics come with two types of pills. It includes both ProSolution and Volume Pills. To boost the amount of blood flowing in the penile region, men need ProSolution Pills. Its special formula makes Corpus Carvenosa, i.e. the spongy tissues in the penile region expand, and the penis gets bigger. In turn, this creates fuller erection. Likewise, the Volume Pills also add pleasure to sex through a different way. What they do is to improve the quantity and quality of semen. Volume pills amazingly increase sperm by 500%. With it, you can climax with overflowing semen. The result is very intense and long orgasm.
Believe that your well-being is priceless. Fulfill your sexual urges. Order SizeGenetics and you would not go wrong with its quality and easy on the pocket price.
